Python was conceived in the late 1980s by Guido van Rossum at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in the Netherlands as a successor to the ABC language (itself inspired by SETL), capable of exception handling and interfacing with the Amoeba operating system. Its implementation began in December 1989. Not surprisingly, given its accessible and versatile nature, Python is among the top five most popular languages in the world. Python is used by Wikipedia, Google (where Van Rossum used to work), Yahoo!, CERN and NASA, among many other organisations. It's often used as a “scripting language” for web applications. Python is an interpreted, object-oriented, high-level programming language with dynamic semantics. ...
